Kuminga was included in the lineup to begin the season, but he rapidly lost it. He recently got a second chance, and he's been taking use of it. Kuminga tallied 15 points on 5-for-8 shooting in the Warriors' convincing victory against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday. He also displayed decisiveness, aggression, and skill on defence, in the paint, and as a facilitator. He will undoubtedly have a bigger part in the future thanks to that performance, but we won't find out until Friday at the earliest.

The Warriors only have 11 players available with Kuminga out. While James Wiseman and Ryan Rollins are receiving G League practise time in Santa Cruz, Andre Iguodala and Patrick Baldwin Jr. continue to be sidelined by ailments. The Warriors' starting lineup will consist of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, and Kevon Looney. They will also have their reliable bench unit of Jordan Poole, Donte DiVincenzo, JaMychal Green, and Moses Moody, as well as Anthony Lamb and Ty Jerome, who have two-way contracts.
Warriors of Golden State vs. Suns of Phoenix
Tonight in Phoenix, the top two clubs from the West's previous season square off for the second time in 2022-23. Five players scored in double digits, including 34 from Devin Booker, as the Suns thrashed the Warriors for 134 points in the first encounter, handily defeating them by 29 points. The Warriors have begun to recover following a five-game losing streak to open the season, but the Dubs still need to improve in order to restore their championship form.
One of the most difficult schedules in college basketball is played by Gonzaga. After defeating Michigan State in a thrilling game on Friday, the Zags are now travelling to Austin to play a top-15 Texas squad in a high-profile matchup. With 22 points and 13 rebounds versus MSU, Drew Timme, one of the game's best players (and personalities), powered the Bulldogs to victory. Timme had helped Gonzaga come back from a 12-point deficit in the second half. A Longhorns squad with high hopes under second-year coach Chris Beard, who recruited skilled transfer Tyrese Hunter and exceptional freshman Dillon Mitchell this offseason, faces its first significant test of the year in this contest.
The Warriors don't have to perform at the same level as they did in 2017–18, when they dominated nearly every NBA team. The only thing they need to do is outperform the teams ahead of them, and despite their problems, the Western Conference now appears to be wide open and ready for Golden State to finally reassert their dominance once more.
Golden State will eventually need to go on a run that takes them out of the play-in race and, ideally, gives them home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. However, although the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics have established themselves as the top teams in the East, the West doesn't seem to have a clear favourite. Which of these teams genuinely frightens the Warriors, especially in a playoff series where experience counts and it resembles a game of chess more than anything else?
